Immigration Relief: Behind Closed Stalls

Immigration Relief is a single player mod in which you play an undocumented custodial worker cleaning the men's room at the United States Congress. Members of Congress are currently voting on the infamous Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006 as you race to clean the men's room. The more they visit, the faster you must work. Depending on how you do, how will they vote? And while you're there, you never know what you might hear behind closed stalls!

My ICAM 120 class was made up of only seven people, so we all worked on this one project together. My task was to see to all the module's scripting, while everyone else worked on art. The NWN Toolset uses C, which I was somewhat familiar with, so after a couple of brief tutorials, I was well on my way.immrelief-inthetoolset.gif

It takes some creativity to reproduce a video-game-atypical scenario within the limited capabilities of a fairly typical game set. Dirty toilets in the module are actually game objects that have been booby-trapped, a mechanism that is supported naturally by the NWN system. To clean a toilet, the (incidentally invincible) player simply triggers the trap.immrelief-inthetoolset.gif
